She relocated from Norfolk, Virginia to the Northern Virginia area in 2020. Since relocating to the Northern Virginia area, Shantell has worked for Fairfax County and Rivers of Hope. Both experiences have been within the mental health arena.

To further her commitment to the mental health field, Shantel is licensed in Virginia as the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Partitioner (LSATP), Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) and Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor for the District of Columbia and Maryland.

Shantell established her therapy practice, Progressive Measures Today in 2023. Her philosophy when meeting new clients is:
"We (client and Shantell)) are in a boat together. My client is driving the boat, and I am a passenger in the boat helping them to navigate the waters of life.”

When Shantell is not giving her all to her career, she enjoys the prescribed self-care of traveling to exotic locations, preparing and eating international cuisines and spending quality time with her two adult children, family and friends.
